Hans V. Hansen 

Professor Hansen has his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Wayne State University.  He specializes in argumentation theory, history of argumentation theory, moral theory, logic and informal logic.  His current research focuses  on the integration of logic, dialectics and rhetoric in argumentation theories; the theories of presumption and burden of proof in the works of Richard Whately and Alfred Sidgwick; argument structures, the logical and moral correlation of rights and duties.  Professor Hansen also is involved in co-editing the journal Informal Logic; co-organizing the conferences of the Ontario Society for the Study of Argumentation; organizing the Philosophy Department’s Visiting Speaker series, and learning how to play the mandolin.
