FRIENDS OF TENALI

Minutes of a meeting of the Executive Committee

Held on Sunday June 2 2001

At 1787 Windermere Road

Present: John Harnett, Conrad Reitz, Joanne Rice, Ron Poole, Gail Johnson.

Apologies: Jake Soderlund.

Minutes: Correction to minutes of February 18. The Annual dinner is on September 29, not September 19. Correction to minutes of April 29: p. 2: "Fundraising" (line 3): the amount should be $80,000.00, not $10,000.00.

Membership: It was proposed that members should receive a certificate of membership, as well as copies of the Newsletter and an invitation to the annual dinner. A life membership of $200.00 was suggested, Individual membership has been set at $10.00 and family membership at $20.00 (meeting of February 18). John will integrate the list of names of people who had attended the dinner, and will get additional names from Tad. Conrad had designed a membership form for the annual general meeting in January, and Joanne will review this. An information sheet about the School will be compiled by Joanne and Gail, and a letter/application form/brochure will be drafted, to be sent out by e-mail and snail mail to prospective members. The official address for memberships will be 954 Windermere Road, Windsor, N8Y 3E4.

Web site: Gail indicated that there is nothing to report as yet. This is a work in progress.

Fundraising: A comprehensive report will have to wait for Jake. However, it was agreed that Joanne and Gail, in consultation with Tad and with Les Dickirson, will work on a presentation to be made to the October meeting of the Executive of Labour Central (formerly the Windsor District Labour Council) requesting financial support. The focus of the request would be on the need to combat child labour in India. A combined book/garage sale should be held in the Fall, and this will be discussed in due course.

Dinner: It was agreed that all out-of-pocket expenses relating to the annual dinner would be paid for by the Friends of Tenali, except for the cost of food. John will check with Uma as to what additional items will be required, as she may still have some bowls, etc. left over from the previous dinner.

Next meeting: July 15, 6.30-8.00 p.m., 954 Windermere. A schedule of meetings for the rest of the year will be proposed at that time.
