Treasurer's Report

Most of you were able to attend our AGM last August and are aware that the

new dues structure of $63.00 per family member was approved and went into

effect in January, 2002.  The added dollars covers the increase of our dues

with the Georgian Bay Association.

With your continued support, GBA will be able to continue to represent your

broad interests in boating, taxation, environment, land use/planning, fish

and wildlife, Native affairs, and liaison with the many townships along the

Bay.

Some of GBA's most recent achievements include successfully encouraging the

federal government to amend the Small Vessel Regulations to provide for

enforceable vessel noise offenses within 5 miles of shore, presenting water

quality and quantity (levels) concerns to International Joint Commission

panels and conferences, and identifying aquaculture (fish cage) concerns to

federal and provincial environmental commissioners.  Continuing benefits

include their super website (www.georgianbay.ca)  Check it out.

Most projects are funded separately through contributions to the Greater Bay

Area Foundation, a registered Canadian charity worthy of your tax deductible

support.  Arrangements can now be made for our U.S. members to contribute

and to receive a US tax receipt.  Those donations should be directed

separately to the Great Lakes Basin Conservancy in Ohio  (call Roy Schatz,

at 416-922-4415 for details).
