The fieldwork for this the second year of the program has been completed. The program has been a pilot program of sorts and has been quite effective. Our township was the first in the Province to take on this responsibility, but a number of other Ontario townships are following suit.
This year, much like the previous year, letters citing deficiencies were sent regarding about half of the properties inspected. Also like last year, the majority of these letters involved minor problems, many involving disposal of gray water.
It is expected that all of the systems in the township will have been inspected at the end of 10 years. Those considered at risk will be inspected in the course of the first 5 years. At risk in this case means properties with systems more than 20 years old or those with no record of a system being installed
This
year the inspections performed in the South Channel were located mainly between
Amanda Island and Seven Mile Narrows.
