The snow has been absolutely gorgeous up here for the last 2 or 3 days (at time of writing!).   The trees are still holding an inch or two on their branches and it looks like it just fell.  The sun has been out but not melted away the beauty, and the moon is high overhead even as the sun is breaking the horizon in the morning.  Lucky me!

On this beautiful Tuesday afternoon I will be taking a few hours to go visit the Aspdin Wildlife Sanctuary.  I'll go visit Sibera the lion, the wolves & lynx, bears & deer, and I'll help give them some comfort with a few left over blankets and sheets we've collected for them.  I haven't been there since spring, so I must go!

Why mention that too?  Well, our “Summer Fun Day” 2009 will be a “field trip” to the Sanctuary for a tour!!  These days with insurance and government policies the staff cannot bring a harmless bear cub or raccoon out on a road/boat trip to visit us at Craganmor's, so we'll go see them instead.  On that note, keep a garbage bag of any sheets & blankets you come across until next July and we'll let the kids donate them when we visit.  They certainly accept monetary donations too, so now may be a great time to teach the “kids” to save a little something on the side to help out some less fortunate animals.  Also, for all parents interested, we will require some transportation & chaperones.  I'll look into insurance & waivers etc. as required in the spring.  If we had enough committed attendees, we could consider a school bus rental, but that would require fees etc.  Any ideas or volunteers would be much appreciated.

Well, the sun is shining right in my office today, reminding even me (the snowmobiler) that not too many months from now the sun will be melting the snow and ice and we can return to waving at each other from our helms, opening up the cottage, and finally sun tanning, water sports, boat trips and dinner parties!!  Enjoy your winter!
