Message from the President

Welcome back to returning members and welcome to any new members of the South Channel Association. Please remember that memberships are now due. It is possible to acquire a membership any time up to the AGM in August that will cover the 2005 year. However, it is most beneficial to us to get an accurate list of members as soon as possible.

Your executive continues to work on your behalf and we have been in contact through e mail and teleconferences all through the winter. We have had some changes in our executive though -- the Pintwala family is leaving the South Channel to take root in a lovely spot out near Bear’s Head. Claudette has graciously agreed to stay on as our GBA rep. However, we are now in URGENT need of a treasurer.  If there is anyone out there in the membership who can be of assistance, please make yourself known to a member of the executive. Please keep in mind that it does not have to be a large role. We have face to face meetings about 4 times a year, always up at the cottage and the treasurer need not attend every meeting. The position mostly entails keeping track of our accounts. So if you have some expertise in this area, let us know. Our contact information is in the attached directory, or you can e mail me at Tracy.Biggar@jus.gov.on.ca

Speaking of the attached directory, please make note if the information is correct. If not, then please make note of any changes in the membership application for next year, or let me know between now and the 2005 AGM.

Meanwhile, I hope to see you all soon on the balmy shores of the South Channel.

Tracy Biggar

It is with sadness that I inform the membership of the passing of Yvonne Zanussi this last January. Her loss will be deeply felt by family and friends and on behalf of the South Channel Association, I would like to send the family our deepest condolences. Yvonne shared some of her early memories of the creation of  the South Channel Association last year in our newsletter.
