Message from the President:

Thanks to all who came out to the Annual General meeting. It was nice seeing and hearing from you all. Once again, we had a great turn out and a lovely lunch supplied by Glen Burney Marina.  For those of you who have never been to an AGM, or maybe it is has been a number of years since you last attended-- be aware that the AGM is very much a social event. This year the meeting segment didn't take much more than an hour. It is followed by a lovely (free) lunch and a very worthwhile raffle (couple of dollars for tickets -- great prizes to be won, see list of donations later in the newsletter).

Thanks to John Pepperell from the Georgian Bay Association for his interesting and timely presentation on the work of the GBA. Members present were in agreement that our support of the GBA continues to be important. To that end, a motion was made to increase membership dues to the South Channel Association by $15 a year, to allow for an increase in membership dues to the GBA. The motion was carried unanimously.

It has been a very hot a dry summer.   Last report I heard was that, if the weather continues as predicted it will have been the worst drought in the history of Canada!  The trees are turning brown and the water level continues to drop.  Let’s hope that by next summer those of us who currently have cottages on islands won’t find that our cottages are on peninsulas!
