Message from the
President:
Well, summer is
winding to a close. I hope it was a great one for all of you. We certainly had
amazing weather out here on the islands.
The Annual General
Meeting was a great success. Thanks once again to Glen Burney Marina for
sponsoring that lovely buffet lunch. And thanks to Carol Topping for all her
work organizing the lunch. We also have Carol to thank for collecting those
wonderful raffle prizes this year. We raised over $400. Of course, we also have
to thank Denys Reed for once again for his firm but velvet hand in selling the
raffle tickets.
We have had some
changes in our executive membership. Ed Pintwala has stepped down as
treasurer. I would like to take a
moment and thank Ed for his contribution to the SCA. He is a very busy person,
but still managed to donate his time to the SCA.
We now have two new
executive members: Lianne Black has volunteered to take on the position of
Treasurer. Liane is a long time member of the SCA and we look forward to the
contribution she will be able to make.
In addition, Lauren
Hartt has volunteered to take on the position of Director at large. Lauren has
grown up spending her summers on the South Channel and will be a welcome
addition.
Geographical
Note: If you would like to join the
executive, but have held back because you don’t think you are “available”, take
note of where our current executive are located: Stan Topping lives in New York
State, Ralph Smith lives in Massachusetts, Lauren Hartt lives in B.C.,
Claudette Pintwala’s cottage isn’t even in the South Channel. and Liane Black
spends her winters in Florida. It is great what you can accomplish being in
touch via e-mail and teleconference. So, put your hand up. We would love to
have you join us.
