Parry Sound Health Centre Give in a Heartbeat Campaign!
Herculean efforts are being made to raise $6 million for the 180-bed brand-new
West Parry Sound Health Centre
The new Health Centre will feature a greatly expanded Emergency Department as well as a CT Scanner and other diagnostic tools necessary to continue to provide the highest of quality of health care for our community and most welcome seasonal visitors.
Did you know…

that
the population of the area swells from 20,000 to 140,000 in the summer?
·
that
we are known to be the “experts” in snake-bite treatment?
·
that
our Ambulance Base fields emergency calls from Islanders, cottagers, campers
and residents and quickly expedites the appropriate rescue personnel and
vehicles?
Scheduled to open
in late 2004 / early 2005
Some Special Events which have raised over $150,000 for this project:
· June 21, 22, 2002 - Dragon Boat Festival: 22-person teams racing 41-foot Chinese canoes
in this high-action, colourful event on the Big Sound. Over 1,500 people
attended or participated in this community event which raised more than
$60,000!
· July 13, 2002 – the Barb Kerr Mixed Charity Scramble Golf Tournament at the Parry
Sound Golf and Country Club – always sold out, and always great fun! This
Tournament has raised over $100,000 over the past 4 years.
· July 21, 2002 – The WPSHC Triathlon: more
than 100 participants of all ages participated in this exhilarating 750 m swim,
26 km cycle, and 6 km run. Start
training now for next year!
