WATER, WATER, WATER

Dear Friends,

Since 2004 arrived, I've seen many articles, TV spots, and heard people discuss water including meter useage, taxed water, bottled sources, and degrees of purity or pollution.   These water discussions have led me to check out convenient 2004 sources of biodegradeable products in Parry Sound.

In alphabetical order they are:

    1.  Adam's Construction Co.  22 A Miller St. on the left between the LCBO parking lot and Toad Hill Pottery

2.`Georgian Bay Whole Foods - next to the CIBC Bank on the downhill side to the harbor

    3.  Sobey's  - the expanded grocer on Pine Drive - in the detergent aisle.

Remember the use of these biodegradable products helps to protect our irreplacable water resource, which is the reason we are members of the South Channel Association.  We are people who have a unique relationship with water.

Sincerely,

Carol Topping

 Aquaculture Issue requires Immediate attention:

We are gaining support from other provincial organizations concerned with the prediction of major expansion boosts to freshwater aquaculture.  Georgian Bay is a prime resource for commercial fish farms – clear waters for dilution of wastes, protected coves and inlets, cool waters for species such as rainbow trout. The summer publication of your GBA Update contains a major feature on this very pressing issue.  We urge you to read it fully, tear out the reply form, and send it back to us.  The more feedback received, the more we can prove to government and others that stakeholders of the Georgian Bay watershed are against any expansion of commercial aquaculture in open, publicly owned Georgian Bay.  Our efforts encourage moving this industry to land and using closed systems. We continue to take your concerns to government and to other stakeholders, and the endorsements of individual property owners like you (tax payers/voters), will be a huge statement in itself.
