Dr. Morton,
Just a comment on the exam I wrote today. I have no idea of the mark I
received, though I am sure it was fine.
As I was leaving, it occurred to me that the hour and half spent
writing it, was actually spent learning it, and committing some of the
ideas to my long term memory. It was challenging and interesting, and a
lot of work, but I believe that much of my learning took place during the
actual exam, not during any "studying" I may have done. It was
the first time that I found the open book strategy used to its true
potential.
Also, just today I realized how helpful the group testing format was.
My group required a defense and often a debate to decide on an answer,
thus maximizing the learning once again. All year long, I just figured it
was to make it easier. I wouldn't touch the format you have created, it is
balanced, fair, and creative. (Although the statistics were a
little unnerving. :)
Perhaps I will see you in grad school someday??
