Education
Ph.D. (2005) Department of Biological Sciences, University of Windsor, Windsor, ON
Dissertation: Sediments as a dispersal vector of aquatic invertebrates: an estimation of propagule pressure associated with 'no ballast on board' vessels
Supervisor: Dr. Hugh MacIsaac

H.B.Sc. (2000) Department of Biological Sciences, Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, ON
Honours Thesis: Environmental Impacts of Pulp and Paper Mills
Supervisor: Dr. Peter Lee

Research Interests:
My primary research interests are associated with invasion biology theory and the ecology of freshwater zooplankton (primarily cladocerans and rotifers). My Ph.D. dissertation work explores invertebrate diapausing eggs in ballast sediments as a vector for nonindigenous species to the Great Lakes. This work has also led to an interest in the natural dispersal of aquatic invertebrates, community-level studies of diapausing egg banks and analysis of vectors of nonindigenous species. A non-exhaustive list of future research interests includes zooplankton distribution in Canada (especially the Great Lakes and the Arctic), molecular taxonomy of freshwater zooplankton, and the search for new established nonindigenous species.
