Technique TELLURITE SENSITIVITY
,(/,)/,(
Principle Tellurite sensitivity can be demonstrated either on blood tellurite agar or tellurite polymyxin egg yolk agar (TPEY).
Cautions
Method Inoculate plates and incubate for 24 hours at 37 degrees C
Results Tellurite resistant microbes reduce potassium tellurite to tellurium and show heavy growth of back colonies. Tellurite sensitive microbes either fail to grow or show a very light growth of pale colonies.
Positive control Streptococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus
Negative control Streptococcus agalactiae
