O
ver these past few months, we have enjoyed welcoming and
visiting with many former Lancers who have returned to
campus for our 50th Anniversary events. There are several more
events planned right into the spring of this year, so if you have not
had a chance to reconnect with your former classmates, or you are
planning to visit the campus, I encourage you to check out our
calendar of events. Many reunions and celebrations are scheduled in
Windsor and across the country to help bring our alumni together.
This past December, we celebrated the retirement of Susan
Lester, our Alumni Association director, who has been with UWindsor for more than 35
years. We held a special in her honour, full of wonderful memories and recognition of a
career spent supporting our alumni. Susan always strived to make others around her shine
but on this night, we focused on her and had a lot of fun doing it! I am especially proud
that we raised enough money to endow a scholarship in Susan’s mothers’ name—the
Marian McLean Campus Spirit Award. I cannot think of a better way for us to say thanks
to someone that has given so much of her time and passion to the alumni family.
I am also happy to welcome Patti Lauzon as our new director of Alumni Affairs and
Donor Communications. Patti joined us last June and it has been a pleasure working with
her in this new role. We look forward to exploring many of the new insights and plans she
brings to the position to continue to engage and excite our alumni.
As usual, this is a very busy time of year. One of the many highlights will be our Lancer
Women’s Basketball team hosting the CIS championships in March. We are incredibly
proud that the team is going for its fourth-straight championship right here at home. We
will be cheering on the sidelines proudly wearing our blue and gold.
Your alumni association board and all of our subcommittees are working hard for you.
We are always looking for people that want to get involved. Feel free to contact the office or
me personally for details on how you can become a part of the alumni team.
