That is one of the first questions David Watkins
BA ’87, BEd ’89
asks his black students at Toronto’s Weston Collegiate
Institute. Often, they don’t have an answer.
By the end of the school year, he says, they understand
that they are responsible for their own history and that,
“I’m here for me.”
